I am artist Andi Jorgensen, and I hope you will enjoy my paintings. They've sprung from a life of travel and a love of life. I work mainly with acrylics and mixed media. Please click on my contact page for inquiries or purchases.
Artist's Statement:
Color excites me - flaming New England falls, icy green Norwegian fjords, and Florida ocean blues are programmed into my mental kaleidoscope. Nature impacts me - there's beauty; there's drama; there's power; there's peace. Ideas stimulate me - philosophical or spiritual, policital or scientific, ideas from all areas of experience provide fodder for intellectual and creative thought. I am an artist who incorporates color and nature and ideas into her art. My work is experimental. Sometimes I allow the movement and the intensity of layered, transparent paint to dictate the direction a painting will go. Other times, I organize textures and shapes to conform to a preconceived idea. I do mixed-media work with a variety of materials, (including fabrics, screens, and sand) on paper, on canvas, and on board. I want my paintings to sing with color like the trees of Wolf Kahn. I strive to share the wonder of profound awakenings of the spirit. One passer-by who stopped to study a group of my paintings caught my message: "I'm usually not attracted to non-objective art," she said, "But this I like. For some reason, it just makes me feel good.
